about the artist
Antonia Guzman was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1954. She graduated from the National School of Fine Arts " Prilidiano Pueyrredon" in 1978 and currently lives and works in Tigre, Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Guzman’s dreamlike tableaux are comprised of lushly colored geometric shapes, hieroglyphs and stick-like anthropoid figures. Her work incorporates influences from Marc Chagall, Joan Miró, Paul Klee and Xul Solar, but synthesize her personal experiences into a uniquely new vision. Guzman shows her work throughout Latin America, the United States, Canada and Europe.
