about the artist
Carrie Seid is a nationally recognized artist who exhibits her work in galleries throughout the United States. Carrie received her BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design in 1984 and her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she was a Merit Scholar. She has taught at numerous universities, including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, State University of NY at Buffalo and the University of Arizona. She is the recipient of the Purchase Award at the Tucson Museum of Art, where her work is part of the permanent collection.
Carrie considers her Tucson studio as her laboratory, where she works as an alchemist to combine materials that “shouldn’t” go together, such as silk and aluminum, to create radiant, mysterious, glowing structures.
